Once again Lone Star stands tall at Red Rapids. In the end the acting commander of the International Coalition Forces, Yankee, surrendered. Time of surrender was approximately 3:30 pm on Sunday Feb. 13, Lone Star led by 450 points. Friday was a gorgeous day and the temp was just right for a day in the woods. Saturday was misty, rainy, chilly but the paintballs were flying and people where having a good time, it was neck and neck pretty much all day and then came the night game. If you weren't there, the night game was something to behold, we had bon-fires going and Lone Star had a slight advantage being the defensive army holding the trench. Grenades, paintballs, and smoke filled the air as Lone Star valiantly and sucessfully defended their position. Commander of the game was Buffalo who created a co-hesive defensive and offensive plan. Even though, by the end of Saturday night game Lone Star held the lead by a mere 50 points. Both teams lost players Saturday night, due to the rain, but Sunday Morning dawned bright, clear and beautiful and thus began a day perfect for paintballing. The breeze was light and nothing but whispy white clouds in a huge expanse of true blue sky. Lone Star had a distinct advantage as fewer players were lost on their side. So in a show of good sportsmanship, Buffalo called the team together and asked for some temporary turn-coats to even up the competition. Yankees' new tank, this one made from a jeep cherokee I believe, made its maiden voyage, however it was not in commission long before a log took it temporarily out of action. He has indicated to me that he will be working further on the land out there and the jeep and by Grand War it should be in tip top shape. The game ran pretty neck and neck for a while but I think the IC Forces guys were running out of energy. Several of their team members were working under handicaps (one had an impacted wisdom tooth! ouch!!) that we cannot count on in the future. Also this was the first time Yankee was overall commander of the troops, and most of these guys had not played together. Denae, of the IC Forces was their MVP being the ONLY IC member to get to the trench intact at the night game, her death throws in the trench were short, but we must honor her achievement. I feel she should bear watching in the future as she is going to be even more formidible as she grows as a player. On our side Wolf Pack was seen and heard everywhere, for a two man recon team they were our greatest asset this game. Wolf 1 was actually our MVP with just Saturday alone taking out 13 of the enemy on barrel tags alone, we are unsure at this time of his total kill count but it must have been pretty high. Our most valuable team award for this game went to Wolf Pack, and it seemed that you couldn't turn around without one or the other making thier presence felt. Other honorable mentions were Bear for his excellent holding off of the enemy and clear thinking, and Joe Fred for a simular action. I ran the kitchen and front desk, and am also happy to report no cases of heat exhaustion this game, and very few problems or issues, and the few that occurred were handled quickly. I fed people my hamburger soup, and a chicken gumbo which seemed to be enjoyed by all, and other than a couple of minor cases of bull nettle there were no injuries. I will be sending out another email later today to give the offical final scores on this game. Any questions or if any of you are ready to sign up for the March game email me or give us a call at the shop 817-923-6422. Gin
