Ghostwalkers Code of Conduct
Safety is not taken lightly by the Ghostwalkers. Honor, fairness, and sportsmanlike behavior are taken very seriously. While we play for fun, we do demand that all participants follow these rules; failure to do so will result in your expulsion for the remainder of the scenario or the day. Repeated failures will result in permanent expulsion.

Face Masks must be worn the entire time you are on the field, regardless of who you are or what you are doing.

Barrel plugs or socks must be on your markers the entire time you are off the field, or if you are on the field but out of play.

Never fire upon anybody who isn't both ON the field and IN play.

When hit, raise your marker over your head and proclaim yourself “DEAD”. Place your barrel plug or sock on your marker and leave the field with your marker held up. Do not communicate with other players (dead men tell no tales).

Do not pretend to be dead to get a better position – once you call it, plug your marker, or otherwise mark yourself as “Dead”. That’s it, end of story. You are dead and out of play.

Do not shoot anyone, while they are walking off the field, if they have a barrel plug or sock in place.

Do not “bonus-ball”. If they are hit, stop shooting.

The 20-foot rule--do not shoot anybody who is closer than 20 feet without first shouting at them to surrender. If they don’t surrender then you are free to shoot them. See “bonus-balling”.

Do not start play until the whistle blows. Stop ALL play when the second whistle blows. If you hear a whistle when it isn’t due, stop anyway--it may be a signal that a player is injured or some other scenario-stopper has occurred.

Alcohol: Once you take that first sip of the day, you have shot your last ball of the day.

Marker settings: We have chronographs--you will not shoot over 280 fps. DO NOT adjust your markers after being chronographed. Between sundown and sunrise your markers will be adjusted down to 250 fps.

Full-auto: If your marker shoots over 12 rounds per second, please inform the team and get a consensus on your settings. There will be NO full-auto between sundown and sunrise.

Gas-powered response triggers are not considered “full-auto” if they shoot less than 12 rounds per second.

“Hits”: Each scenario may be run where either quarter-sized paint breaks count as hits, or solid-contacts count, regardless of whether paint breaks or not (lead rules). Whichever rule is used, please follow it.

Wiping: will not be tolerated.

The referee’s call stands until after play. If you disagree with a call, please wait until after the scenario ends before challenging it. Do not initiate an angry or belligerent challenge. Any referee may make a mistake; the job is very demanding. They are all open to honest discussion and legitimate criticism. None of us are tolerant of whining, pissing, moaning, or otherwise bad losers (or winners).

Profanity or other offensive behavior: Smack talk and other good-natured ribbing is expected and even encouraged. As adults we also make use of language that many consider “colorful” or inappropriate. However, there is a line that should not be crossed. If any member oversteps that line, the other members will correct them as each situation demands. Continued crossing of the line will result in expulsion.

Have Fun: Dammit, that’s why we are here and that’s what we all want. It's just a friggin’ game, so get over yourself and enjoy!

Rock is Hard, Water is Patient. (From "Quality Control and Brain Damage", By Howard Lee, Quality Progress Magazine, March 2007)
No matter how strong the attack, no matter how hard the defense, the unyielding strength of rock always succumbs to water. Pound on a lake with a rock and you get a wet rock. Pound on a rock with water and you can cut it in half, reduce it to gravel, and even dissolve it completely.
Feel the water, BE the water. Calm and placid, but capable of bringing down the mightiest of mountains.
